In the quiet town of Prescott, Arizona, the life of 41-year-old Delissa Blair was tragically cut short on a Saturday morning in October 2016. At the time of her death, Delissa, a woman known for her intelligence, compassion, and humor, was four months pregnant with her third child.
The distressing events unfolded when Delissa’s husband, 41-year-old Kenneth Blair, a former Marine, placed a 911 call reporting that he had accidentally shot his wife during a struggle over a handgun.
When Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies arrived at their home, they found Delissa on her bed with a gunshot wound to the head. She was rushed to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center but sadly succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
Initially reported as an accident, the narrative soon changed. During a follow-up interview with investigators, Kenneth Blair admitted that he had become upset with his wife during an argument and intentionally shot her. This confession led to his arrest and booking at the Camp Verde Detention Center. He faced two counts of second-degree murder—one for the death of Delissa and another for their unborn child. The couple’s two other children, aged 5 and 11, were present in the home at the time of the shooting but were physically unharmed. Authorities were also looking into whether Kenneth Blair's history as a military veteran and possible PTSD played a role in the violent domestic dispute.
