On the evening of November 27, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in McKinney, Texas, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. At approximately 8:07 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of North McDonald Street. Witnesses observed a 19-year-old man approach a dark gray Dodge Ram parked at the complex, leading to an exchange of gunfire between him and a 20-year-old male passenger in the vehicle.
Both men sustained gunshot wounds during the confrontation.
Following the shooting, the Dodge Ram arrived at Medical City McKinney, where the 20-year-old male and 18-year-old Christopher Perez were dropped off. Perez was subsequently arrested at the hospital. The 19-year-old victim was transported to the same medical facility by emergency services. Tragically, both the 19-year-old and the 20-year-old succumbed to their injuries. Authorities have not publicly disclosed their identities.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, identified as 21-year-old Josue Mejia, was located leaving the area, prompting a police pursuit. The chase concluded at a car dealership in Richardson, where Mejia attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a brief pursuit. Both Perez and Mejia, residents of Princeton, Texas, were charged with murder in connection to the incident and booked into the Collin County Detention Facility. Investigators believe this was an isolated event and have stated there are no known outstanding suspects. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting and the specific roles of those involved.
