On December 21, 2024, the body of 17-year-old Giovano Cruz was discovered in the backyard of a residence in the Yaupon Ranch subdivision of Cypress, Texas. Authorities responded to the scene around 10:30 a.m. after a resident reported finding the deceased teenager. Investigators determined that Cruz had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
