On January 20, 2017, Cyrus Williams, a 19-year-old Black male, was fatally shot in the head in the North Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side. The incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. in the 600 block of South Sacramento Avenue. Williams later arrived at Mount Sinai Hospital and succumbed to his injuries three days later, on January 23, at approximately 1:30 p.m. An autopsy confirmed his death as a homicide resulting from the gunshot wound.
At the time of the incident, Cyrus Williams resided in the 3600 block of South Lake Park Avenue. He was also known by the nicknames “Jaquan,” “Blick,” and “Cyro.” The shooting occurred in an area that has experienced significant gun violence, contributing to the city's broader challenges with firearm-related homicides.
As of the latest available reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the death of Cyrus Williams. Chicago Police Department's Area North detectives were investigating the case, but no suspects had been publicly identified or charged.
