In the late hours of November 21, 2024, the life of 26-year-old Panoum Jangjuol was tragically cut short in the parking lot of a Murray apartment complex on South Fairbourne Avenue. A male, Jangjuol became embroiled in a physical altercation with another individual. The dispute quickly escalated to a fatal encounter.
Witnesses reported that Pirawn Yohan Mula, a 22-year-old man, was involved in the initial confrontation with Jangjuol.
During the course of the fight, Mula allegedly produced a handgun and shot Jangjuol. After Jangjuol fell to the ground, he was reportedly shot a second time at close range. The incident prompted a swift response from Murray police, but Jangjuol was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
In the days following the shooting, law enforcement made several arrests in connection with the case. Pirawn Yohan Mula was taken into custody on November 22 and subsequently faced a charge of murder, among other offenses. Another man, 24-year-old Jackson Baka Issa, was arrested on November 25 on charges including obstruction of justice. A third individual, Anthony Marc Cook, aged 36, was later charged with witness tampering, accused of attempting to silence a witness at the scene of the crime. While a motive for the altercation has not been publicly disclosed by authorities, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Panoum Jangjuol's death is ongoing.
