A man's body is found by county highway workers In the winter of 1975, the life of a young Caucasian man named Wallace Mayo Thorton, age 25, came to a violent and mysterious end in Salt Lake City, Utah. The last time anyone is known to have seen or heard from him was on or around January 23, 1975. It was known that Wallace had been involved in a lifestyle that had caused him to have concerns for his own safety.
Four days later, on the afternoon of January 27th, his body was discovered by county highway workers.
The grim finding revealed a brutal demise; Wallace had been shot and beaten. It appeared to investigators that his body had been dumped at the location where he was found approximately two weeks prior to the discovery.
Despite the violent nature of his death, the case remains an unsolved homicide. To this day, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Wallace Thorton, and there are no publicly named suspects. The circumstances surrounding the final days of his life and the identity of his killer or killers remain a mystery.
