Emeterio Melgar-Hernandez, a 33-year-old immigrant from El Salvador, was found murdered on August 19, 1982, in a remote area near Interstate 80 and U-65 in Utah. At the time of his death, Emeterio worked as a dishwasher at the Salt Lake Hilton. He was a husband and father of eight children. Emeterio had last been seen by his co-workers on August 14, 1982, and his body was discovered five days later. He had been shot, and it appeared that his body had been left at the location for some time.
