A man is shot by someone trying to force their way into his home In the early morning hours of April 14, 1986, the life of a 25-year-old Caucasian male, Terry L Bakker, was tragically cut short in Salt Lake City, Utah. A sudden noise at the front door of his residence at 2049 E. Atkin Ave. roused Bakker from his sleep. As he went to investigate and partially opened the door, a man forced his way through.
The intruder then fled across the front lawn, with Bakker in pursuit.
Shortly after giving chase, Bakker returned to his home, where it was discovered he had been shot. He collapsed near his front porch and was rushed to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The man who fled the scene is the sole suspect in this long-unsolved homicide. Witnesses described him as a white male in his early 20s, standing approximately 5'10" tall and weighing around 160 pounds. He had short, curly dark brown or black hair and may have been wearing a red stocking cap. After the shooting, the suspect was seen being picked up by an individual in a light blue compact car.
Despite the passing of decades, no arrests have ever been made in connection with the murder of Terry L Bakker. The case remains an open and unsolved homicide, a painful mystery for his family and the Salt Lake City community.
