Miguel Antonio Hernandez, an 18-year-old from El Salvador, was murdered on August 17, 1982, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Miguel had recently moved to the area from Santa Ana, California, and was living with his cousin, Emeterio Melgar Hernandez. The cousins were last seen together at a dance on August 13. A few days later, on August 17, Miguel’s body was discovered by hikers in East Canyon, about 100 yards off the road. He had been shot, and his death was ruled a homicide.
