A man is stabbed to death at a campground
On August 21, 1978, 37-year-old Richard Eugene Stanley was found murdered at the Oakridge campground in Big Cottonwood Canyon near Salt Lake City, Utah. Stanley had been at the campground with a friend when an unprovoked argument occurred. During this altercation, an unknown assailant jumped out of the bushes and attacked him. Stanley was fatally wounded during the incident, and despite efforts to solve the case, no suspects have been identified, and his murder remains unsolved to this day.
