In the late summer of 1978, a 37-year-old male named Richard E. Stanley was enjoying an evening with a friend at the Oakridge campground, a recreational spot nestled within the natural beauty of Big Cottonwood Canyon, east of Salt Lake City, Utah. The tranquil setting, however, was tragically shattered on August 21st.
