On December 14, 2024, at approximately 5:49 a.m., the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to a shooting incident on the 3000 block of Indiana Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 39-year-old Jeremy Obrien McClure suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency medical services, McClure succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The police department indicated that the shooting did not appear to be a random act of violence.
In the days following the incident, the Winston-Salem Police Department conducted thorough investigations, including the execution of search warrants. On December 17, 2024, authorities arrested 29-year-old Kivaughn Stacker at an apartment on Ferrell Court. Stacker was charged with felony firearm by a felon, felony murder, and misdemeanor resist, delay, and obstruct an officer. He was taken into custody at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center without bond.
Subsequently, on December 20, 2024, 32-year-old John Rashaad Dunbar was arrested at a residence on Toddler Place Drive. Dunbar was charged with felony accessory after the fact in connection with McClure's murder. He was held at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center on a secured bond of $250,000.
Both suspects are currently in custody, and the investigation into the circumstances surrounding McClure's death is ongoing. Authorities have not released further details regarding the motive or the relationship between the suspects and the victim. The Winston-Salem Police Department continues to seek information from the public to assist in the investigation.
