In the community of North Bergen, New Jersey, a distressing event unfolded in early December 2024. Juan Moyet, a 48-year-old Hispanic man, was found deceased in his second-floor apartment at 9028 Palisade Plaza. The discovery was made on the afternoon of Monday, December 9th, after the North Bergen Police Department received a call about an unresponsive male shortly before 3:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers found Moyet's lifeless body, and he was officially pronounced dead at the scene just after 3:50 p.m.
Initially, it was reported that Moyet had an apparent head injury. However, a post-mortem examination conducted by the Regional Medical Examiner's Office on December 11th revealed a more sinister cause. The examination determined that Juan Moyet's death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the head. This finding prompted an intensive investigation led by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit in conjunction with the North Bergen Police Department. For a time, no suspects were publicly identified, and authorities appealed to the public for any information that could lead to an arrest.
The investigation progressed, and in mid-January 2025, a significant development was announced. A 34-year-old North Bergen man named Henry Delgado was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting. Delgado was apprehended at a residence in Union City and subsequently faced a litany of charges. These included murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and hindering his own apprehension. Additionally, he was charged with being a certain person not to possess a weapon and disturbing/desecrating human remains. Following his arrest, Delgado was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility to await his first court appearance.
