On November 30, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a fatal shooting occurred at a residence on the 4100 block of Manor Woods Drive Northwest in Rochester, Minnesota. Emergency responders arrived to find 28-year-old Demetrious Antonio Tankhamvang deceased from multiple gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen.
The homeowner, who was known to Tankhamvang, reported to authorities that he had shot an individual who had entered his home and assaulted him.
Following the incident, the homeowner was taken into custody, questioned by detectives, and subsequently released. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
This incident marks the third shooting in Rochester within a two-week period, with the previous two incidents also resulting in fatalities. Authorities have stated that there is no known threat to the public and are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tankhamvang's death.
