On the evening of November 21, 2024, chaos erupted on the northwest side of Indianapolis as a series of shootings left one man dead and two others injured. Martell T. Woodberry, a 32-year-old Black or African American male, was fatally wounded in the incident.
The violence began to unfold at approximately 8:37 p.m. at the Lakeside Crossing at Eagle Creek apartments, located in the 3900 block of Wind Drift Drive East.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting and discovered two men with gunshot wounds. One of the men, later identified as Martell T. Woodberry, was in critical condition. He was rushed to an area hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The second victim found at the scene was reported to be in stable condition.
Shortly after the initial discovery, around 9:00 p.m., police were called to another scene approximately three miles away at the Colonial Square apartments in the 4400 block of Moller Road. There, they found a third adult male victim also suffering from gunshot wounds. His condition was also reported as stable. Investigators believe all three victims are connected to the initial incident on Wind Drift Drive East. At the Lakeside Crossing apartment complex, police also found several crashed vehicles that they believe may be connected to the shootings.
As of the latest reports, no suspects have been identified or arrested in connection with the shootings. IMPD detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the violence. They are urging anyone with information to contact the IMPD Homicide Office or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. Earlier in the year, Woodberry had been booked in Marion County for unlawful carrying of a handgun.
