On December 21, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Danville Police Officers responded to reports of a person lying on the ground near the intersection of Collett and Williams Streets in Danville, Illinois. Concurrently, an officer in the vicinity reported hearing gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered 35-year-old Joseph Jones of Champaign, Illinois, unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate first aid efforts, Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
