On the evening of December 22, 2024, tragedy struck in Columbus, Georgia, when 9-year-old Lakeith Livingston, a young Black male, was fatally shot. Columbus police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1300 block of Floyd Road at approximately 8:36 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Lakeith suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel rushed him to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:03 p.m.
