On the night of December 12, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., 17-year-old Gabriel Rosario Cortez was fatally shot in the 10100 block of Chesham Drive in Orange County, Florida. Residents reported hearing multiple gunshots, with some recalling up to six shots, while others heard fewer or none at all. First responders arrived to find Cortez deceased at the scene.
