On December 22, 2024, 37-year-old JD Jones Jr. from Homestead, Florida, was fatally shot in an incident that also left a 25-year-old man critically injured. The Miami-Dade Police Department reported that officers initially responded to a ShotSpotter alert near Southwest 265th Street and 138th Court around 9:15 p.m., but found no immediate evidence of a shooting.
