On December 23, 2024, at approximately 6:16 p.m., a tragic shooting occurred on the 7900 block of Rouse Drive in Escambia County, Florida. The incident resulted in the death of 18-year-old Geary Lynch, a high school senior and father, who was fatally shot in the head. A 16-year-old male was also involved; he sustained injuries initially believed to be gunshot wounds but were later determined to be road rash.
