In the early evening of December 4, 2024, the life of 19-year-old Nadir McCoy was tragically cut short in a Southwest Washington, D.C. apartment. A Black/African American male from the Northwest quadrant of the city, McCoy was discovered by First District officers of the Metropolitan Police Department at approximately 6:31 p.m. inside a residence in the 200 block of I Street, Southwest.
He was unconscious, not breathing, and suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene, but their efforts were in vain as they found no signs of life. Nadir McCoy was pronounced dead at the location of the shooting, turning the apartment into a homicide scene. The Metropolitan Police Department launched an investigation into the fatal shooting, a case that remains ongoing.
