On December 26, 2024, at approximately 12:31 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2700 block of Fairlawn Avenue, Southeast Washington, D.C. Upon arrival, they discovered 41-year-old Lamar Edmonds, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite prompt medical attention from DC Fire and EMS, Edmonds was pronounced dead at the scene.
