In the Maricopa Meadows community on November 22, 2024, 16-year-old Esteban Valenzuela was shot and killed. Police responded to the scene on West Dirk Street just before 7:15 p.m., finding the wounded teenager who was then transported to a local hospital where he died shortly after arrival. An autopsy later revealed Valenzuela died from a single gunshot that entered near his left shoulder, piercing his heart and other vital organs.
