On March 24, 2017, 20-year-old Tomorry Hill was shot and killed in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood. The incident occurred as Hill was walking along the 6600 block of South Laflin Avenue. A vehicle approached, and an individual inside the car opened fire, resulting in Hill's death. This tragic event was part of a wave of violence that plagued Chicago that year, with many neighborhoods experiencing similar incidents of gun violence that added to the rising homicide rates.
