On January 6, 2023, at approximately 7:30 p.m., 28-year-old Octavion "Tayy" Hoskins was fatally shot near the Broadstone Apartments on Medical Drive in San Antonio, Texas. Tragically, this incident occurred on his birthday. Upon arrival, San Antonio Police Department officers found Hoskins deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Another man, who was with Hoskins at the time, sustained critical injuries and was transported to University Hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe the shooting may have stemmed from a robbery. Hoskins' father, Oscar Hampton, indicated that his son had accompanied a friend to sell a PlayStation gaming console, as the friend did not want to go alone. During the transaction, the suspects reportedly opened fire and fled the scene in another vehicle. The surviving victim provided varying accounts of the event, including one version suggesting that both men were robbed and then shot.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Hoskins' death. The San Antonio Police Department continues to investigate and urges anyone with information to contact their homicide unit at 210-207-7635. Hoskins' family, who reside in Michigan, are seeking justice and have appealed to the public for assistance. They have also initiated a GoFundMe campaign to bring Hoskins' body back home for burial.
