On March 9, 2023, at approximately 3:43 p.m., Lubbock Police Department officers responded to reports of a robbery in the 1300 block of Avenue T in Central Lubbock. Upon arrival, they discovered 65-year-old Martin Martinez lying on the ground outside a residence, having sustained a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, Martinez was pronounced dead at the scene.
