Edward Jermaine Wilson, 26, was arrested about a week after the shooting in San Angelo and faced two separate counts of murder. Witnesses reported that Carson was supposed to meet with Wilson and another individual, Bobby Gasca, to sell them crack cocaine. During the meeting, a struggle ensued, and both Carson and Tubbs were shot. Wilson and Gasca were later arrested and charged with capital murder.
In addition to Wilson and Gasca, another suspect, Camri Huitt, was arrested on a charge of failure to report a felony. The arrests were part of a broader investigation by the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit, which worked closely with authorities in San Angelo to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Michael Carson's sister, Aaliyah Bryant, expressed her heartbreak and determination to see everyone involved in the crime held accountable.
