On February 11, 2024, at approximately 7:49 p.m., Lubbock Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired at the Hub City Inn, located in the 5200 block of Avenue Q South Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Orion Akins with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
