On April 8, 2023, 15-year-old Cesar Christopher Trochez-Maravilla and 14-year-old Adiel Garcia Aguirre were found deceased in a vehicle near County Roads 5260 and 5200 in the Santa Fe subdivision south of Plum Grove, Texas. Both teenagers had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, as confirmed by autopsies.
The vehicle was discovered by a resident checking their mail around 3 p.m., approximately 50 to 60 feet from a group mailbox.
The car was found running and in drive, suggesting that the teens may have been conversing with someone when the shooting occurred. It appears they attempted to flee but ended up in a muddy area off the main road.
Both victims resided near the crime scene and were former students of Santa Fe Middle School, having recently transitioned to homeschooling. The Liberty County Sheriff's Office has been conducting interviews with potential witnesses, including former classmates, to uncover any possible motives or suspects. While the area has experienced issues with gang activity, authorities have not confirmed any connection between this incident and gang involvement.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
