On April 14, 2023, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Corpus Christi police responded to reports of gunshots on the 1800 block of Kentucky Derby Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals lying deceased in the street: 33-year-old Michelle Mungia and 44-year-old Jose Gonzalez. The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the deceased.

Investigators determined that Gonzalez fatally shot Mungia before taking his own life, classifying the incident as a murder-suicide ...
