On the night of April 27, 2023, in Pecos, Texas, officers responded to reports of an altercation near 3rd and Eddy Street around 11 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds. One victim, identified as 35-year-old Larry Garcia Dominguez, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, Adam Garcia, sustained injuries and was transported for advanced medical care.
Following the incident, authorities arrested 28-year-old Ray Allen Gordon III, charging him with murder in connection to Dominguez's death. The Pecos Police Department confirmed Gordon's apprehension shortly after the shooting.
Larry Dominguez was a lifelong resident of Pecos, born on June 17, 1985. He was married to Paula Faragoza and was a father to multiple children. Employed by ACE Resources as a pumper, Dominguez was known for his dedication to his family and his passion for football, particularly as a Denver Broncos fan.
The community of Pecos mourned the loss of Dominguez, with funeral services held at Santa Rosa Catholic Church, followed by interment at Barstow Cemetery. The arrest of Gordon provided some measure of closure, though the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
