On May 19, 2023, at approximately 10:10 a.m., Houston police responded to a shooting at the Scottish Inn & Suites located at 9610 West Sam Houston Parkway South. Upon arrival, officers discovered 23-year-old Candeese Jenkins in the front office, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
Investigators swiftly identified 19-year-old Felipe Martinez-Molina as the primary suspect in Jenkins' death.
By May 20, charges of murder were formally filed against him in the 179th State District Court. On May 22, members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force apprehended Martinez-Molina without incident. He was subsequently taken into custody to await trial.
The relationship between Jenkins and Martinez-Molina, as well as the motive behind the shooting, has not been publicly disclosed by authorities.
