On June 6, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots at The Bridge at Harris Ridge Apartments, located at 1501 East Howard Lane in northeast Austin. Upon arrival, officers discovered 14-year-old Mikalah Franklin suffering from critical head injuries due to gunshot wounds. She was immediately transported to Dell Children's Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
