On June 9, 2023, at approximately 2 a.m., San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) officers responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment complex in the 4800 block of Ray Bon Drive, located on the city's Northeast Side. Upon arrival, officers encountered a barrage of gunfire from an individual later identified as a 61-year-old male resident. The suspect fired over 100 rounds at law enforcement, striking multiple police vehicles and forcing officers to seek cover.
