On June 10, 2023, 41-year-old Mauricio Puente was fatally shot during a house party on San Antonio's West Side. The incident occurred around midnight in the 7100 block of Shady Grove Drive. According to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), an argument erupted between Puente and a 23-year-old man, escalating when the younger man retrieved a handgun and shot Puente multiple times in the upper body.
