In the late morning of May 25, 2025, a beloved and vibrant member of Detroit's ballroom community, Karmin Wells, a 37-year-old Black transgender woman, was tragically killed in her own home. Her life was cut short in what police suspect was a pre-meditated attack, leaving her friends, family, and the broader LGBTQ+ community in mourning and demanding justice.
