Upon arrival, they discovered 41-year-old Jermaine Hubbard lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations revealed that Hubbard had visited the residence to see his girlfriend. An altercation ensued between Hubbard and 26-year-old Duwayne Fenix, who was already present at the home. During the confrontation, Fenix allegedly shot Hubbard multiple times before fleeing the scene.

Later that day, authorities located and apprehended Fenix. He was subsequently charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court for his alleged involvement in Hubbard's death.

Hubbard's death was a tragic loss to his family and community. Born on July 14, 1981, he was remembered as a devoted father and a man of faith. His funeral services were held on July 22, 2023, at Abiding Faith Baptist Church in Missouri City, Texas, followed by interment at Houston Memorial Gardens.
