On July 8, 2023, at approximately 6:18 p.m., Ector County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a call at 2614 West 56th Street in Odessa, Texas. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Europe "Von Crow" Brynteson deceased from a single gunshot wound to the head.
Witnesses reported that an older woman with spiky purple hair and a man named "Nick" had arrived at the location, engaged in a heated argument with Brynteson, and fled the scene immediately after a gunshot was heard.
Investigators utilized security camera footage to trace the suspects' vehicle, leading them to identify 25-year-old Nicholas Sebolt and 51-year-old Lori Denise Grantham as the individuals involved. Grantham voluntarily presented herself to the sheriff's office, identifying Sebolt as the shooter but claiming she was unaware he would resort to such measures.
Both Sebolt and Grantham were arrested and charged with murder. Sebolt faced an additional charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He was held on a $500,000 bond for the murder charge and a $25,000 bond for the firearm offense, while Grantham was held on a $500,000 bond.
In December 2024, an Ector County jury found Sebolt guilty of murder, sentencing him to 60 years in prison. Grantham, also indicted for murder, is awaiting trial in the 70th District Court.
