On August 13, 2023, 19-year-old Gregory Cristian Galomo was fatally shot during a large house party in Baytown, Texas. The incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. at a residence in the 2400 block of Sweet Bay Drive. Deputies from the Chambers County Sheriff's Office responded to multiple calls reporting a shooting and arrived to find a sizable crowd outside the home. Upon entering the backyard, they discovered Galomo with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second individual sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
In the days following the shooting, investigators conducted over 15 witness interviews and executed multiple search warrants. Their efforts led to the identification of 20-year-old Rolando San Miguel as the primary suspect. A Chambers County Grand Jury subsequently indicted San Miguel on charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. On August 28, 2023, authorities located and arrested San Miguel in Houston, with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and the Houston Police Department.
Following his arrest, San Miguel was arraigned, and his bond was set at $4 million, reflecting concerns about the violent nature of the crime and his potential flight risk. Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne commended the dedication of the detectives involved, expressing hope for justice for Gregory and peace for his family during this challenging time.
Gregory Galomo was remembered as a kind-hearted and ambitious young man. A graduate of Lee High School, he was known for his strong work ethic and had recently purchased his dream car, a Mustang, through his own efforts. He is survived by his parents, Gloria and Gregorio, and his siblings, Jennifer, Julian, and Josiel. His untimely death has left a profound impact on his family and the Baytown community.
