On December 24, 2023, Corpus Christi police conducted a welfare check at a residence on Natchez Drive after a family member reported not hearing from their relatives for several days. Upon entry, officers discovered the bodies of 15-year-old Luke Rogers and his father, 49-year-old Sheadyn Rogers. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation by the Corpus Christi Police Department's Robbery Homicide Division indicated that the incident was a murder-suicide,
with evidence suggesting that Sheadyn Rogers fatally shot his son before taking his own life. The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed their identities and the causes of death.
Luke Rogers was a freshman at Veterans Memorial High School in Corpus Christi. He was remembered as a kind, loving, and gentle individual with a joyful and compassionate spirit. His friends noted his sense of humor and creative talents, including writing short stories and creating short films.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Luke and Sheadyn Rogers is ongoing. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no additional suspects are being sought in connection with this case.
