On January 21, 2024, Nicholas King, 24, of Katy, Texas, attended a birthday party at a short-term rental property on Russet Leaf Trace in the Katy area. The celebration was in honor of 24-year-old Michael Odobo. King was accompanied by his girlfriend, 24-year-old Ellesha Rice. The gathering turned tragic when an altercation escalated into a deadly shooting, resulting in the deaths of King, Rice, and Odobo.
