On January 27, 2024, at approximately 3:54 a.m., Lubbock Police Department officers responded to a report of a deceased individual in the 1700 block of East 27th Street in East Lubbock. Upon arrival, they discovered 54-year-old Ruben Sifuentez Velasquez with a fatal gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services pronounced Velasquez dead at the scene.
