On April 20, 2024, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Arlington police responded to a shooting incident outside the Chicas Locas gentlemen's club, located at 2711 Majesty Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered two men with gunshot wounds lying near the club's parking lot. One of the victims, identified as 30-year-old Abel Alberto Rodríguez, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim, a 40-year-old man whose identity has not been disclosed, was transported to a hospital and was expected to recover.

Investigations revealed that the 40-year-old victim had a prior conflict with the suspected shooter. The two engaged in an argument outside the club, during which Rodríguez, a friend of the 40-year-old, arrived and became involved in the dispute. Shortly thereafter, shots were fired. A firearm was found near the 40-year-old man's body, suggesting he may have been armed during the confrontation.

The suspected shooter remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. After consulting with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, detectives considered the possibility that the shooting was an act of self-defense. Consequently, no criminal charges were filed against the individual at that time, and he was released without arrest.

Rodríguez was a Cuban national from Ciego de Ávila, known to be a mechanic and father of a young child. The incident has drawn attention within the Cuban community, both in Texas and abroad. As of now, Arlington police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting to determine if any further action is warranted.
