On April 24, 2024, 18-year-old student Etavion Barnes was fatally shot outside Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas. The incident occurred around 2:50 p.m. near a portable classroom building on campus, just as the school day was concluding. School resource officers responded promptly, finding Barnes unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Barnes was transported to Medical City Arlington, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
