On the morning of March 29, 2025, 18-year-old Power Allen, a Black male from Arlington, Texas, was fatally shot during a violent altercation at an apartment complex located in the 800 block of West Mitchell Street. Police responded to reports of a shooting around 6:46 a.m. and found Allen unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 8 a.m.
The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Teagan Meza, allegedly confronted three individuals inside the apartment, including his ex-girlfriend. During the confrontation, Meza reportedly pointed a gun at his ex-girlfriend outside the apartment and fired a shot into the air. Inside, as two women attempted to close the door on him, Meza is accused of pistol-whipping one of them and firing a shot into the apartment, striking Allen.
Following the incident, Meza fled the scene and was later located at a family member's home, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with one count of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Meza was initially booked into the Arlington City Jail and subsequently transferred to the Tarrant County Jail, with a combined bond set at $800,000.
