On the night of June 17, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., Waco police responded to a shooting in the 2900 block of North 21st Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two 16-year-old males with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as Johnathan Alexander Smith, was found at the scene. Despite officers' attempts at life-saving measures, he succumbed to his injuries.
