Investigations revealed that Warren had previously rented a portion of her home to 41-year-old Jeffrey Hinton, who had vacated the premises approximately a month prior to the incident. Witnesses reported observing Hinton at Warren's residence on July 5, the day before her body was found. One witness recounted seeing Hinton remove the doorbell camera, and surveillance footage captured his blue Hyundai Elantra parked in Warren's driveway around the time two gunshots were heard.
When questioned by police, Hinton admitted to visiting Warren's home on July 5 but claimed his stay lasted only ten minutes and denied any involvement in the removal of the doorbell camera. However, cell phone records contradicted his account, placing him at the scene for approximately forty minutes during the critical time frame. Based on this evidence, authorities issued a warrant for Hinton's arrest. He was apprehended on July 26, 2024, at a senior living center in Plano, where his mother resides, and subsequently charged with murder.
