On July 7, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., El Paso Police Department officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress in the 200 block of South Glenwood Street in the Lower Valley area of El Paso, Texas. Upon arrival, officers discovered 29-year-old Ivan Dario Bello Espitia suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention, Espitia succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Following an investigation by the Crimes Against Persons unit, authorities identified 30-year-old Miguel Eduardo Teran-Moral as the primary suspect in the shooting. With assistance from the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, Teran-Moral was apprehended and charged with murder. He was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, with bond set at $1 million.
The incident marked the 11th homicide in El Paso for the year 2024, a notable decrease compared to 23 homicides during the same period in the previous year.
