On the night of July 20, 2024, at approximately 11:16 p.m., Gladewater Police Department received a 911 call reporting a shooting at 220 S. Ferry Street in Gladewater, Texas. Upon arrival, officers discovered 47-year-old resident Sheri Shanell Evans suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical assistance from the Gladewater Fire Department and Christus EMS, Evans succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
