On August 27, 2024, at approximately 6 a.m., Houston police officers responded to a call reporting a deceased individual near a transit bus stop at 7900 Sunbury Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 49-year-old Jeremiah Standokes, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and pronounced Mr. Standokes deceased at the scene.
