On September 4, 2024, at approximately 7:52 p.m., the Schertz Police Department responded to an emergency call reporting a violent disturbance at a Whataburger located at 5570 FM 3009 in Schertz, Texas. Upon arrival, officers were directed by bystanders to a vehicle in the parking lot, where they discovered 18-year-old Amiaya Ann Myrick from Cibolo, Texas, slumped over with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
